Community alert regarding suspicious online account activity and potential deception.
Online impersonation and safety concern reported
A resident warns others of a potentially dangerous person impersonating a woman online. The individual is using a fake account claiming the name Amanda and is contacting users.
Replace age verification process set out in Online Safety Act to voucher system
We the undersigned wish for the government to change how online age verification is currently handled because we have serious concerns about online security and the potential for fraud as a result of the current implementation requiring websites to do their own checks, often with data sent abroad.
Fund a government-run online age verification system
We call on the UK Government to establish and fund a centralised, secure age verification system that is free or low-cost for platforms. This system could enable age checks to protect vulnerable users while supporting small to medium-sized businesses and comply with the Online Safety Act.
