Make Government Petitions Legally Binding at a Threshold of Public Signatures
We call on the UK Government to introduce a legislation that makes petitions enforceable whenever they gain a high number of signatures. Currently Petitions may be debated in Parliament or receive a gov response but they aren't enforceable. The government must remember that they work for us
Reform the petition system: Parliament vote at 1M signatures & referendum at 5M
Reform the petition system so that petitions reaching 1 million signatures trigger a parliamentary vote on the issue within 6 months, and petitions reaching 5 million signatures trigger a national referendum. This can help ensure the public’s voice leads to action, not just debate.
