We ask the UK Government to reform property law in England to align more closely with the Scottish model. The process in Scotland makes offers legally binding earlier, which we think helps reduce fall-throughs and creates a more secure, fair process for all.

Remove restrictions on Right to Buy in rural areas
I want the Government to remove all restrictions that stop tenants in rural areas from using Right to Buy. This includes amending section 157 of the Housing Act 1985 to remove the ability to restrict Right to Buy in rural areas.
Require homebuilders to supply detailed electrical/plumbing plans post-purchase
Require builders to give homebuyers (past, present and prospective) full electrical and plumbing plans as standard. We think clear documentation would improve safety, transparency, and long-term maintenance, helping ensure buyers know exactly how their home is constructed and serviced.
Abolish stamp duty for cohabiting couples who split & buy share of co-owned home
If a cohabiting couple split up & one party would like to buy the other out of the family home to remain & create stability for children etc then stamp duty is liable on any share of the house bought from the leaving party & the mortgage debt taken on. Married couples do not pay this tax.
Abolish Feudal Tenure and implement Allodial Tenure (same as Scottish Act 2000)
As they have under Abolition of Feudal Tenure etc. (Scotland) Act 2000, we demand all titles in England and Wales are amended to the "Allodial" Tenure and hold absolute title.
Require landlords to sell vacant properties to house homeless and refugees
With over 700,000 empty homes, 170,000 vacant commercial properties, and around 350,000 homeless people, taxpayers shouldn’t bear the housing burden. Empty properties could be sold to investors committed to easing homelessness for a minimum of two years post-purchase.
