Awaab's Law is one of the most significant pieces of legislation to come into force to tackle damp and mould in housing. We want the government to implement the extension of the Decent Homes Standard (DHS) and Awaab’s law to all temporary accommodation as soon as possible.

Require the Decent Homes Standard to be extended to all asylum accommodation
We demand the Government to require that all asylum accommodation meets the Decent Homes Standard, as we are concerned many asylum seekers are housed in substandard, unsafe and inhumane conditions. Unlike social housing, not all asylum accommodation is legally required to meet this standard.
Strengthen regulation of supported accommodations
I want all supported accommodations to be monitored by the Care Quality Commission, and to be inspected and rated, to protect people.
Unsafe temporary housing conditions for vulnerable families
Families with children are being housed in buildings with serious safety issues including drug use, vandalism, and unsupervised vulnerable individuals. The current system fails to provide appropriate support for those with addiction and mental health issues.
Ensure Home Office needs planning permission for all hotel asylum accommodation
Amend the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 and the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 so the Home Office must always seek local planning permission before using any hotels to house asylum seekers, ensuring local councils and communities are consulted.
Fund accommodation for all prison leavers
We call on the Government to fund accommodation for everyone leaving prison so they are not released directly on to the streets and therefore put at a much greater risk of re offending.
