Introduce compulsory third party insurance for electric mobility scooters
There is currently no legal requirement for drivers of electric mobility scooters to obtain third party insurance cover; as such any person sustaining injuries through negligence of the driver can have a low chance of claiming compensation. We would like to see compulsory insurance introduced.
Government to review car insurance pricing and impose cap on increases
We want the Government to review the car insurance industry, and introduce a cap on price increases, ensure insurers provide clearer explanations for premiums, and introduce measures to protect young drivers and low-income households from excessive prices.
Require car insurance companies to insure the car, not the driver
We believe car insurance companies should be required to insure cars only, rather than individual drivers.
Legislate to make car insurance calculations transparent
We want the Government to mandate that car insurers must disclose how they calculate car insurance quotes. We would like to see detailed calculations, showing us all the factors, and where applicable the range of possible values for a given factor.
Create a mandatory money protection deposit scheme when buying a used car
The government to set up a safety deposit scheme for customers who purchase used cars from any dealership. The money should be protected in the scheme during their 30 day right to reject period. The money would then be released after that time to the dealership on the basis no dispute has arisen.
