Create a dedicated ILR settlement route for international students
The Government should create a dedicated settlement route for international graduates who: have completed a recognised UK degree, demonstrate strong proficiency in English, and have worked in the UK for a certain number of years.
Keep 5 Year ILR route for people who came to UK in 2023 or later
The government should keep the 5 Year ILR route for those who have been in the UK since 2023 on any visa, such as Student, Skilled Worker or such.
Keep 5 year route to ILR for Existing Ancestry Visa Holders
We petition to keep the 5 year Indefinite leave to remain (ILR) route for current Ancestry Visa holders who are already living in the UK.
Do not apply new ILR rules to those who arrived before 2021 on a 10 year route
Keep the existing ILR route for people who arrived before 2021 and are already building towards 10 years' lawful residence. Ensure their past lawful years continue to count and are not discounted under any new "earned settlement" rules.
Allow family visa holders to include time spent on a skilled worker visa for ILR
The Government plans to increase the qualifying residence period for indefinite leave to remain from 5 to 10 years for skilled worker visa holders. We believe skilled workers on 5-year visas should be able to include time spent on their current visa if they switch to a family visa & apply for ILR.
