Fund lower train fares

Require metal detectors and bag and ID checks at all mainline railway stations
The government should ensure all major mainline railway stations, where passengers can board a train that will travel non-stop for more than 15 minutes, are fitted with airport-style security, such as baggage scanners, metal detectors and ID checks.
Make it law that all public trains have working CCTV at all times.
Introduce a legal requirement for all public passenger trains to have working CCTV whenever in service, with standardised retention periods and guaranteed police access, to improve investigations and protect women and girls from sexual offences.
Step-free access lacking at train station
A train station lacks step-free lift access, creating barriers for parents with prams, elderly people, and those with mobility challenges. A petition calls for installation of accessible facilities.
Fund mandatory safety upgrades for all public transport vehicles by 2028
We call on the Government to fund compulsory safety upgrades for all public transport, including: fatigue detection / drowsiness monitoring, distraction detection / attention monitoring, and installing driver alcohol detection systems. This could substantially reduce accidents and save many lives.
