Legislate to explicitly ban the Portsmouth Defence

National
·40 reactions·100% agree

We urge Parliament to formally abolish the homophobic Portsmouth Defence, which allowed offenders to justify violence on the basis of same sex sexual advances. This undermines the Equality Act and put LGBTQ+ lives at risk. We call for urgent legislative reform to formally ban this defence.

Legislate a Democratic Exit Clause for All Nations of the United Kingdom

Legislate to create a democratic, peaceful withdrawal process for any UK nation from the Union. We believe that without a more clearly codified exit route, the Union could risk becoming involuntary. We think this could undermine democracy and breach the UK’s international obligations.

Give the Home Secretary the same powers to ban static assemblies as marches

We are calling for a change to the law so that static assemblies can be banned by the Home Secretary where there is a serious risk of public disorder.

Make it an offence to carry a catapult in public without lawful defence

Change the law so catapult possession in public is an offence. Currently, police must prove intent or use to cause harm. We propose it becomes an absolute offence, like air rifles, without lawful defence. Rising attacks on people, animals, and wildlife show stronger powers are needed.
