Someone who can prove they have suffered domestic abuse is able to access legal aid for divorce, but if the abuse was suffered by a child within the family, even if there are convictions, they have no automatic access to legal aid for divorce. We believe this needs to change!

Review family court legal aid for working mothers who've survived domestic abuse
We believe the legal aid means test is outdated, unfair and doesn't reflect the cost of living. We are concerned that women are being trapped in unsafe situations or denied justice as they earn slightly too much on paper. No mother should have to choose between safety and justice due to her salary.
Amend divorce law to protect survivors of spousal sexual abuse
Change the law so that in cases where one spouse has been convicted of rape or other serious sexual offence against the other, the survivor is legally safeguarded from any financial claims made by their abuser in divorce proceedings.
Stop criminalisation of parents who take children abroad due to domestic abuse
75% of 'child abductions' involve mothers. Most are taking their child back to their country of origin and have experienced Domestic Abuse (DA).
Change the law to allow under 16's to be recognised as victims of domestic abuse
We want the government to amend the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 so children under 16 who experience abuse at the hands of a parent or partner can be legally recognised as victims of domestic abuse. Every child affected deserves to be heard, protected, and supported in law and through services.
Make child abandonment by a parent a criminal offence
We call on the Government to update child protection and family law by making child abandonment by a parent a criminal offence.
