We want the government to amend the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 so children under 16 who experience abuse at the hands of a parent or partner can be legally recognised as victims of domestic abuse. Every child affected deserves to be heard, protected, and supported in law and through services.

Amend the Domestic Abuse Act to tackle cross-border legal & financial coercion
Amend the Domestic Abuse Act regarding the prosecution of cross-border coercive and economic abuse, including the misuse of foreign legal actions (SLAPPs) as a form of ongoing domestic abuse that can cause harm in the UK.
Remove the statute of limitations on reporting childhood domestic abuse
Currently there is a statute of limitations on domestic violence in the UK. A victim of domestic abuse has 6 months from formally reporting an offence of domestic abuse to the police to initiate prosecutions and two years from the date of offence to prosecute the abuse.
Stop criminalisation of parents who take children abroad due to domestic abuse
75% of 'child abductions' involve mothers. Most are taking their child back to their country of origin and have experienced Domestic Abuse (DA).
Make it mandatory for every workplace to have a specialist Domestic Abuse Lead
Make it mandatory for every workplace to have a trauma-informed Domestic Abuse Lead responsible for raising awareness, recognising and evaluating risk, offering confidential support, and guiding safe next steps for anyone affected by abuse.
Make divorces where a child is abused automatically eligible for legal aid
Someone who can prove they have suffered domestic abuse is able to access legal aid for divorce, but if the abuse was suffered by a child within the family, even if there are convictions, they have no automatic access to legal aid for divorce. We believe this needs to change!
