Provide funding for Veterans to remain in care homes
We call on the Government to create a fund to ensure that Veterans in Care Homes are not forced to change homes when their own private funding runs out. This can be especially hard for Veterans living with Dementia
Fund access to private health care for all injured British veterans
Injured British veterans often live with lifelong physical and psychological conditions caused by service. NHS pathways can involve long waits and limited specialist care. We think guaranteed private healthcare would provide timely, expert treatment and fulfil the nation’s duty of care.
Reinstate the NI Legacy Act protecting veterans from prosecution
Give veterans the same protection from prosecution as given to suspected IRA terrorists by Tony Blair's amnesty.
Fund a national database of victims of unlawful arrests & a special ID for them
We urge the Government to fund and create a national database of victims of unlawful arrest, and introduce a “Victim of Unlawful Arrest” ID card which will be issued to victims.
Recognise ‘Veteran’ as a protected characteristic in law.
Make ‘Veteran’ a protected characteristic in the Equality Act 2010 to help ensure veterans aren't disadvantaged and that Armed Forces Covenant objectives are consistently applied. Require organisations to enable recording of veteran status with safeguards and prevent discrimination or disadvantage.
