We want the Government to ban banks and payment providers from charging transaction fees on card payments. If society is moving towards a cashless future, we think digital payments must be free and fair for consumers and businesses, not a hidden source of profit for banks.

Ban bank charges for charities
Legislate to ban all bank charges on charity’s accounts to allow these funds to be used to support the purpose the charity gathers them for, rather than bolster bank profits.
Require banks to allow customers to set maximum caps on Direct Debit payments
Amend the Payment Services Regulations 2017 to require banks to provide a "Customer-Defined Cap" for Direct Debits. If a withdrawal attempt exceeds this cap, the bank must automatically block payment and notify the customer. Payment should only proceed when authorised and a new cap is set.
Cap failed payment fees for individuals and small businesses
Introduce legislation to cap fees associated with declined direct debit and late payments so that do not exceed the administrative cost of handling the late payment. We also call on the Government to require grace periods and fair payment alternatives for those unable to pay.
Ban charity platforms charging transaction or processing fees
Ban charity platforms from charging any fees on donations. We believe platforms profit whilst charities lose funds. I was only able to find one platform that didn’t charge the charity or donors.
