Parents of seriously ill children should be offered proactive mental health support from diagnosis, through treatment, and in grief. Unlike perinatal parents, they get no dedicated help. We want this support made a standard part of every child’s care.

Lack of support services for single parents with chronic illness
A single parent with chronic illness cannot afford household and gardening assistance or waste disposal services and is seeking information about available support.
Introduce national support standards for autistic children with PDA
We urge the Government to recognise the growing cohort of autistic children with a Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile who are unable to attend school safely.
Require family involvement in the care of adults with severe mental illness
Introduce national standards to require mental health teams to gather information from close relatives when assessing adults with severe mental illness, ensuring decisions reflect the full picture. Disregarding family input can be damaging to the patient and can put them and the public at risk.
Increase available support for people with young-onset dementia
We call on policymakers and health authorities to increase available support for people with young-onset dementia as currently some support is only available to people of state pension age. Additional resource should also be made available to improve chances of early diagnosis.
Review guidance on school behaviour policy to support mental health & inclusion
We call on the Government to launch a review of the statutory guidance on school behaviour policies which looks into ending any punitive measures and investing in restorative, trauma-informed approaches.
