The DVLA should have stricter evidence thresholds before undertaking medical assessments of an individual's fitness to hold a licence. DVLA to implement mandatory eye tests for all drivers & sight reporting
DVLA to implement mandatory eye tests for drivers for all ages. We believe that any vision impairment such as short or long sightedness should be something which drivers are mandated to report, just like other health conditions which may affect their vision.
UK government to introduce stricter reviews on motoring licence holders
1. To introduce regular mandatory checks such as a medical check from own GP (not private clinics) and eye test. 2. To introduce mandatory minimum motorway training for motorists.
Make it illegal for DVLA to share vehicle keeper data with private companies
Make it illegal for the DVLA to share driver and keeper data with private companies. Drivers should not have their personal information released without consent, especially for use by private parking firms. DVLA data should only be provided to public authorities.
Government to review funding and regulations for Medical Fitness to drive
Increase Grant Funding to Driving Mobility Centres to prevent further centre closures. Extend the responsibility to declare a medical condition to the DVLA to include any medical professional who confirms the diagnosis. Enhance control of the regulatory management of Driving Mobility Centres.
Higher minimum penalties for death by dangerous driving
I want people who have committed death by dangerous driving due to drugs to permanently have their licence removed and never have chance to reapply, and longer sentences for death by dangerous driving with a minimum of 20 years without parole.
