Give pensioners access to PIP, as they are currently excluded from pension age

National
·75 reactions·100% agree

We ask the UK Government to allow pensioners to claim Personal Independence Payment (PIP). People over State Pension age cannot make new PIP claims and must use Attendance Allowance, which we believe gives less support and no mobility component. Allowing PIP could provide fairer, needs-based support

Make people with cancer and unable to work automatically entitled to PIP

Being unable to work due to having cancer does not give you the automatic right to claim PIP, but why shouldn’t it? We think people in these circumstances should be automatically entitled to PIP. Instead they may face an added stress of having to fight the system as well as fight cancer.

Government to fix private pension access age at 55

Private pensions have historically been accessible from 55. In light of rising retirement ages, the Government must remove the 10-year link to retirement age and permanently fix the minimum access age at 55. We believe that requiring long-term investment while postponing access is unreasonable.

Exempt all pensioners from council tax

We call on Parliament to pass a law which exempts all pensioners in Britain from paying Council Tax. Current provisions only ensure that pensioners on the lowest incomes receive full relief, yet many others, particularly those on modest but above-threshold pensions, still pay this tax.

Make everyone born up to 31 December 1960 eligible for the state pension at 66

According to current law people born in January, February and March 1960 can get state pension when they reach their 66th birthday. I think people born in 1960 year from April to December are penalised as they have to wait longer to access their state pension.
