We believe student finance maintenance loans are no longer reflective of household incomes. Two parents on the average UK salary means their child may be entitled to minimum. We believe this needs to be reconsidered immediately.

Review the student loan system and explore alternatives
Consider options for abolishing the current system and alternatives such as a progressive graduate tax, scrapping interest rates, or writing off existing debts to address its unfair and burdensome impact on graduates.
Review, reform & means-test the state pension & scrap tuition fees
We urge the Government to review existing state pension entitlements and introduce the following reforms: 1) end the triple lock 2) reduce entitlements for those on existing private defined benefit schemes with an income £20,000 + 3) end state pensions for incomes over £50k.
Launch a review into improving social housing provision for families
Launch a review into reforming social housing so families with young children aren’t trapped in unsafe, overcrowded flats. The review should look into creating fairer allocation rules, offering suitable downsizing options for older tenants, and ensuring families have access to a safe, healthy home.
Require child maintenance payments to increase by inflation & review enforcement
We call the Government to review and look into reforming Child Maintenance Service (CMS). We believe the current payment system does not reflect the true cost of raising children, especially in the current cost of living crisis.
Launch a review of eligibility for the Rural Fuel Duty Relief Scheme
At a time of ongoing cost-of-living pressures, we want the Government to urgently review eligibility for the Rural Fuel Duty Relief Scheme to ensure fairness, consistency and equal treatment for remote, rural and island communities, including those in Argyll.
