Add a rule to the House of Commons Members Code of Conduct and THE Ministerial Code setting out that MPs and Ministers should not attribute extreme political views to members of the public without clear evidence.

Hold MPs accountable for misleading statements and apply sanctions
Introduce a statutory mechanism to investigate and sanction MPs who make demonstrably false or misleading statements in Parliament or public communications. This should include an independent body empowered to review evidence, issue corrections, and apply proportionate penalties.
Prevent people convicted of serious crimes standing or serving as MPs
Ban anyone who has ever been convicted of serious offences (such as sex offences against children, terrorism, serious fraud, corruption, violent crimes) including foreign convictions and given a custodial or suspended sentence from standing for or serving as an MP; when appeals have been exhausted.
Ban MPs from accepting any gifts or donations from businesses and individuals
Politicians are lawmakers and should be held to the highest standards of integrity. Yet MPs are currently allowed to accept gifts, hospitality, and donations from businesses and individuals. We think that even when declared, this can create a clear conflict of interest and undermine public trust.
Ban MPs from having second jobs except in NHS
MPs should not have other jobs outside of Parliament unless they are qualified doctors, nurses or other healthcare professionals and actively work in the NHS
Ban Members of Parliament from being residential landlords
We ask the Government to introduce legislation preventing sitting MPs from being residential landlords. We believe MPs who profit from rental income are in a conflict of interest when voting on housing, rent, and tenant legislation, which may undermine public trust and fair representation.
