Mandate use of motorway cameras and technology to catch lane hoggers
The Government must ensure that cameras, sensors etc on motorways are used effectively to catch lane hoggers in the same way they are used to catch people who speed.
Increase minimum speeding fines to £1000 & mandate ban for repeat offenders
Increase minimum Fines starting at £1000 and require those caught more than once to be banned from driving.
Introduce a progressive system of penalties for speeding offences in 20mph zones
We call on the Government to amend sentencing laws and reduce the minimum penalties for speeding in 20mph zones, so that a first offence between 20-25 mph only results in 1 point, a second leads to 2 points, and a third leads to 3 points.
Introduce harsher penalties for causing death by careless driving
We call on the UK Government to reform the law on causing death by careless driving, including: - Setting harsher minimum sentencing - Requiring immediate driving bans upon charge
Remove speed cameras from motorways to improve safety and fairness
We want the Government to remove speed cameras from motorways in England. There is strong evidence that they distract drivers, cause sudden braking and confusion when limits change, and increase accident risk. The focus should be on education and clear, consistent speed limits instead.
