Increase minimum speeding fines to £1000 & mandate ban for repeat offenders
Increase minimum Fines starting at £1000 and require those caught more than once to be banned from driving.
Change speeding penalties to 1point for up to 25MPH on a 20MPH road
Drivers are currently penalised 3 points for travelling at up to 24mph in 20mph areas. This action is disproportionate. The current penalty treats these drivers the same as other drivers who speed at excessively dangerous limits.
Introduce penalties for motorway middle lane hoggers & decriminalise undertaking
Stricter rules for middle lane hoggers (driver awareness courses, fines and points for repeat offenders). Zero punishment or penalties for undertaking on the motorway if there’s a middle lane hogger.
Increase minimum penalties for breaking the speed limit twice in a month
We think any driver caught speeding twice in a month must lose their licence for at least 6 months with a large fine starting at £1,000 to encourage them to be responsible.
Introduce harsher penalties for causing death by careless driving
We call on the UK Government to reform the law on causing death by careless driving, including: - Setting harsher minimum sentencing - Requiring immediate driving bans upon charge
