Drivers are currently penalised 3 points for travelling at up to 24mph in 20mph areas. This action is disproportionate. The current penalty treats these drivers the same as other drivers who speed at excessively dangerous limits.

Introduce a progressive system of penalties for speeding offences in 20mph zones
We call on the Government to amend sentencing laws and reduce the minimum penalties for speeding in 20mph zones, so that a first offence between 20-25 mph only results in 1 point, a second leads to 2 points, and a third leads to 3 points.
Increase minimum penalties for breaking the speed limit twice in a month
We think any driver caught speeding twice in a month must lose their licence for at least 6 months with a large fine starting at £1,000 to encourage them to be responsible.
Remove speed limits on motorways
We think it's about time the motorway speed limit was removed. Cars are safer than they used to be. We believe that driving at high speed is safer as you look at the road ahead far more.
Speed camera on A316 changed to 30mph
A new speed camera has been installed on the A316 outside the Old Deer Park car park entrance, with the speed limit changed from 40mph to 30mph. Residents are warned to adjust their driving accordingly.
Ban 20mph speed limits with limited exceptions
We believe anti car sentiment has become rife and 20mph speed limits are becoming commonplace in many towns and villages which just slows traffic and causes more congestion. There should be a national policy so 20mph limits are only used as the exception, e.g outside schools.
