I would like Parliament to legislate that any agency issuing prescriptions for animals must advise people if a cheaper option is available to purchase from another source. And if they do not do that people should, by providing evidence, be reimbursed the difference by the prescription provider.

Require vets to provide free lifesaving care for pets
If the pet is in desperate need of care, and the pet's life is on the line, the vets should have to give the animal free medical care, so the pet does not die.
Make it law that animal charities must obtain vets notes regardless of health
Make it a legal requirement that all rehoming and rescue charities obtain vets notes from previous owners when dogs are given up. This will show a full report of the animals health to ensure what the previous owner has disclosed is correct.
Remove VAT from pet food and prescription medications for pets
Currently, pet food & prescription meds attract a rate of 20% VAT, in direct contrast to their human equivalents where VAT is usually not charged. Pets are much loved family members, so why should pet owners be discriminated against? Removing VAT could help struggling pet owners.
Regulate and reform veterinary care
We call on the UK Government to establish regulatory oversight of veterinary care. This should include written treatment plans, itemised bills, consent safeguards, and accountability for corporate-owned practices which we believe profit from distress.
Veterinary costs remain unaffordable for pet owners
Pet owners report difficulty affording veterinary care, with costs remaining high despite recent regulatory reforms. New transparency requirements for veterinary pricing are being implemented.
