We call on the UK Government to ban the sale and use of indoor fireworks. Although classified as F1, they emit flames and sparks that can pose a serious fire risk in enclosed spaces. We believe a ban would help prevent avoidable fires and reduce pressure on fire and rescue services.

Ban both private and public use of fireworks & replace with cleaner alternatives
Ban the sale and use of fireworks at public and private events. Instead, allow organised eco-friendly displays like drone shows, as adopted in countries such as the Netherlands.
Ban public use of fireworks on New Year’s Eve & promote quieter alternatives
We ask the Government to ban the use of fireworks by members of the public on New Year’s Eve, and to promote safer, quieter alternatives for celebrations, such as professionally organised drone light displays accompanied by music.
Do not ban fireworks - make them available to purchase from age 21
Fireworks should not be banned from being sold to the general public (as a petition currently suggests). We think they should be available to buy for anyone over the age of 21.

Ban the use of fireworks in residential areas which is causing stress to vulnerable people and animals.
Ban the use of solid fuel/ wood burning stoves in residential areas
The UK ranks 101 out of 131 countries in terms of poor air quality (ranked from worst to best) according to the latest World Air Quality report in 2022. Domestic wood-burning is the biggest source of fine particle air pollution in the UK, contributing significantly to overall pollution.
