VOTE BARRY DUCKETT

Independent Candidate for Rotherhithe Ward Thursday, 7th May 2026

For over 50 years, I have been on the frontline fighting for the rights of tenants and residents- long before many of the current councillors were even born. I am standing as an independent because the big parties have failed our community.

Where are the 11,000 new homes promised to you by this Labour-run council when they first came into power three terms ago? Labour has let you down. Ask yourself one question: When did you last actually see your local Ward Councillor? They are knocking on your doors now because they want your vote, but where have they been for the last four years? It is time for a representative who actually listens and delivers. Labour has let you down at every opportunity.

CRACKING DOWN ON CRIME & ASB

* Public safety is non-negotiable. Our "Safer Neighbourhood" teams are being pulled away, leaving us without cover. ew Police Hub: I will demand a dedicated Police Hub ai Canada Water.

* Protect Our SNT Teams: I will fight to stop the practice of diverting our dedicated ward police elsewhere. We need consistent local cover to tackle the persistent local crime.

FIXING THE HOUSING CRISIS

* Labour's Council Housing Management is sinking under E835 MILLION in debt, with a backlog of 11,000 communal repairs.

* The Canada Estate/Devon Mansions Scandal: E7 Million of your money was lost on Major Works schemes. The Labour Cabinet knew, and your Ward Councillors were informed, yet they did nothing. Labour has let you down and will continue to do so. if elected on the 7th of May.

* Resident-Led Board: I will fight to establish a genuinely resident-led and controlled Housing Board to put power back in your hands.

* Affordable Rents: I will fight to ensure both council and private rents remain affordable for ordinary working people TRAFFIC, CONGESTION & ROADWORKS

* End the Gridlock: We must tackle the terrible congestion choking our streets. I will push to ensure all roadworks are completed quickly and efficiently to stop unnecessary delays.

* Safe Pavements: Making our walkways safe, accessible, and well-maintained for all pedestrians.

* Better Parks for Families: We must make our parks safe and isable. I will prioritise updating children's playgrounds, especially ‹ing George's Fields on Lower Road, which has been neglected for too long. ask yourself this question what has Labour done for you? Nothing.

BRINGING BACK THE "LOCAL" IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Our current councillors haven't held a single static surgery in four years. If elected, I promise to:

* Restore Ward Surgeries: Regular, face-to-face meetings where you can bring your problems directly to me.

* Genuine Community Meetings: Creating a space where residents are actually listened to, not ignored by party machines.

ON 7th MAY, YOU HAVE 3 VOTES Please give one vote to Barry Duckett

Barry is a proven candidate with results from 50 years experience fighting for tenants and residents. Ask yourself: What have our ward councillors actually done for us in the last tour years?

Barry Duckett - Your Voice for Rotherhithe

Local parks, like King Georges Fields Rotherhithe Ward, need new Play equipment. What have your local ward councillors done to get the park updated?

Nothing! We have been fighting for the investment needed to make this park DDA compliant so it usable by every child. Think before you vote on May 7th and spend one of your votes for change!

Flats left empty. This is a four bedroom flat left empty for months. We are told that we have over 600 voids, empty properties waiting to be done and put back on the Housing List, while we have over 16,000 people waiting to be housed and what have our Labour Ward Councillors done about it? Labour controlled Southwark Council has let you down
