In Shenis's own words

My name is Shenis Hassan, and I'm a local Goffs Oak resident seeking to become one of your local councillors this year.

I have always cared deeply about where I live, which has led to being involved in local volunteering and the campaign to stop the development on our green space, working closely with Broxbourne Council, Local Council Leader, Cllr Corina Gander and our MP, Lewis Cocking. After a fiercely contested battle we managed to stop the developer from building over some of our critical green spaces, which are loved by so many.

I love being part of the community and meeting my neighbours and I am an active member of the Goff’s Oak Community Association. We all accept that new housing is needed but in the right place locally and respecting the wider community’s needs.

I intend to play a key role in ensuring development is appropriate and that developers work with closely with us. I recently presented at the planning and regulatory committee to make sure our community is clearly heard as they consider the Laurel Park development.

To continue the community work further and to save our green space, I will be standing in the local elections, and have enjoyed meeting with local people on the doorstep in recent weeks and months.

I encourage you to reach out and speak to me, as I am dedicated to meeting and speaking with every resident across the Goffs Oak ward.
