In Monica's own words

**About Monika Sobiecki**

I have been a member of the Green Party for over a decade and settled in Waltham Forest just over a year ago. I originally joined the Green Party because they were the only party treating the climate and biodiversity crisis like the emergency that it is.

As a lawyer, I advise people and organisations who have been victims of hacking and surveillance; I also support a non-profit working towards greater corporate accountability and climate justice across different industries.

**What Monika stands for**

The climate crisis will be the defining test of our communities in this century. Local government needs to be a key part of enabling us all to do as much as we can, and supporting people, organisations and businesses to move to low carbon technologies. After we moved to Waltham Forest, we were able to rely on a zero interest loan scheme backed by the Energy Savings Trust to retrofit our home with an air source heat pump, solar panels and a battery system; more residents should be able to do the same, quickly and easily.

Safe, reliable, clean heating and power should be a basic right for everyone in Waltham Forest and subsidised by government. If I am elected, I will work hard to actively explore all options for increasing retrofit and renewables installations in Waltham Forest across every context: public; private; individuals; businesses. Let’s fill Waltham Forest with solar panels!
