In Tracey's own words

Sutton & Croydon Green Party are delighted to announce that Tracey Hague has been selected as our General Election candidate for the seat of Carshalton and Wallington. Tracey said: "I am pleased to again be selected to stand for the Green Party in Carshalton and Wallington, to offer people hope for the future. 14 years of failed government and everything has got worse. Growing up, food banks didn't exist; they didn't need to. I know the Green Party cares and has the policies to improve the lives of ordinary people. I worry about our children. What does the future hold for the next generation? They deserve a roof over their heads, in an energy-efficient home they can afford, with enough money for a good diet and a healthy lifestyle. They deserve hopes and dreams. The Green Party has the great ideas to give them hope for an affordable, thriving future. As an energy advisor I know how people are struggling with bills, sleepless nights and worsening health. The rental sector needs reforming. A mass insulation programme is desperately needed to tackle hard-to-heat homes. It's cheaper and easier to tackle the capital's leaky Victorian housing now, than cope with the effects of the climate crisis later. Tackling cold damp homes will increase jobs, reduce fuel bills, boost the economy and improve health and wellbeing for millions. Only the Greens are taking this issue seriously, seeking more installer training and more investment. I helped fellow Green Shasha Khan take the Stop The Incinerator fight to the High Court. Sadly the fight continues: waste volumes have increased, birds have disappeared, adverse health impacts are known. The incinerator needs to close. Existing technologies can increase recycling rates and more can be done to encourage less use of resources. Carshalton Eco Fair showcases many such initiatives, where the Green Party's ever-popular café offers delicious plant-based cakes that are kind on the Earth and on your wallet. The Green Party has proven policies to solve problems: Citizen's Assemblies, Universal Basic Income, public services run for public benefit (not private profit), a police service that keeps everyone safe regardless of gender or ethnicity. Getting the Conservatives out isn't enough. Other parties have tried and failed to deliver meaningful change, or even an effective opposition. Only the Greens have the real solutions to the problems we face. At all levels of government, Greens are trusted to improve things for everyone's benefit. Carshalton and Wallington is no different. It's time for a different type of politics led by people, not career politicians who don't care, or more of the same with a different colour rosette. We deserve better. You deserve better. If you want better, it's time to vote for it. It's time to vote for the future. It's time to vote Green." About Tracey Tracey was born and brought up in Croydon, has lived there almost her entire life and has chosen to bring her family up there. Tracey has worked in the public, private, and the voluntary and community sectors. She currently works for a local charity supporting ethnic minorities and tackling Fuel Poverty and health inequalities. Tracey has undertaken a range of voluntary work including at a food bank, teaching skills for life to young people (Scouting), fundraising for school resources (Parents Association), giving advice and support on vegan cooking and nutrition (Sustainable Thornton Heath). Tracey is a founder member of her local park Friends group, has sat on the Scrutiny sub-committee as the patients' representative and been a trustee of a local ecology centre and a local voluntary organisation. Her environmental campaigning with Greenpeace spans many decades and she supported the vulnerable in lockdowns (Local Mutual Aid Groups network). She regularly finds free resources online for community groups and attends protests on democracy and justice (Palestine/Gaza, climate change, European unity).
