Sarah McCartney was born in Saltburn, Cleveland, and grew up in a making and repairing household in the North East of England. She was educated at Boldon Comprehensive School, Durham and West London Universities, and now lives in Ealing. Sarah managed the Guardian and Observer's events, was Lush Cosmetics' writer for 14 years, and was a regular cos- metics industry speaker on ethical issues. In 2011 she found- ed 4160 Tuesdays, an eco award winning craft perfumery now based in Hammersmith.
