“Richard has lived in Ealing permanently for over ten years but known the area for much longer. Richard is an educator and manager and has worked for theatre companies across the country. He was an active campaigner for Sister Supporter which stopped the harassment of women on Mattock Lane. As a democratic socialist, Richard was previously in the Labour Party but left five years ago in complete despair at the machinations of the local Labour Party in Ealing, and fearing they had abandoned all their principles. He believes that any political party should first serve the interests of the residents, the people it represents, not the interest of those who lead or fund it. As such, he helped form Ealing Community Independents with people from the community properly representing the interests of the community. He supports divestment of the pension scheme away from weapon systems and arms manufacturers and into green renewable industries and technologies.”
