In Ela's own words

My name is Elmira, and I have lived in Old Town, Swindon, since 2011. I moved here and built my life here, and this community has become my home. I am a single mum of three young children, all attending local schools, so like many parents, I experience first-hand the realities of family life in Swindon.

I have watched parts of Wichelstowe grow from open fields into a thriving neighbourhood. I remember when the first buildings went up and when The Deanery School opened its doors. I have seen how decisions made locally shape our community - for better or worse - and I believe those decisions must always put families first.

I hold a higher degree in Psychology and Human Resources, and I work as a Technical Recruiter in a technology company. My professional background has taught me the importance of listening carefully, understanding people’s needs, and making balanced, evidence-based decisions. Every day, I work with individuals from different backgrounds and countries, which strengthens my belief in international collaboration and cooperation.

As a single parent, I understand the pressures many families face — especially with the rising cost of living. I know how difficult it can be to balance work, childcare, and financial responsibility. That is why I care deeply about practical support for families, accessible education, and strong local services.
