Liberal Democrats candidate for Wroughton and Wichelstowe
“I’m Stan Pajak, I was born in Swindon, and I’ve lived here here all of my life. I am married to Dawn and we have four children. My two daughters perhaps following their mum are involved in education in local schools with one a secondary school assistant head and the other teaches at primary level. As for my two sons one works in Epic Games as a QA specialist - just as well he ignored me telling him not to waste his time playing games! While the other is a project manager in digital media. We have four grandchildren. Which I’m told keep us young!”
“It was very early on in my life I realised I wanted to get involved in local things and local politics. At work I became a trade union shop steward working for people and helped fight the threat of redundancies.”
“I first got elected in 1985 as a Wiltshire County Councillor when the Liberals together with the SDP took control. In 2002 I became mayor of Swindon. It was an amazing year. I became one of the few mayors ever to take part in the Moonwalk a walking marathon through the night time streets of London raising funds for breast cancer. I had the honour of speaking for the Council at the funeral of Wroughton’s famed councillor Harry Garrett who is remembered in the village through Harry Garrett Court.”
“Having retired I work as a volunteer at the Prospect as a volunteer at their Media shop. I have never been a great athlete but enjoy running and last year ran the Swindon Half Marathon raising funds for the Prospect. My marathon running days are over!”
“This is my second time standing for Wroughton and Wichelstowe and the issues have not changed under the Conservative and Labour administrations - too many houses in Wroughton under both the local plans of the Tories and Labour, our campaign for a new Health Centre in Wichelstowe - it should have been built years ago and the tackling of the disgraceful amount of potholes on our local roads.”
“If elected I will be dedicated to the people of Wroughton and Wichelstowe keeping in touch and getting things done.”
