In Oktay's own words

Because Enfield’s problems are both national and local, I oppose austerity and local council budget cuts as well as the privatisation of our public services. Seeing the destructive consequences of these policies and of the cost of living crisis on local working class communities, increasing local welfare support and access to services is therefore a priority for me. Local people need more housing, disability, food and energy costs, afterschool, social and Council Tax support!

I stand against scapegoating of working class communities and migrants – I will fight to uphold the unity of people and defend their rights to access improved social support!

I have been a resident of Enfield since 2001, am a Politics, Philosophy and History graduate and have two decades of community organising experience. As a local resident, I have lived experience of the countless issues currently impacting the local living standards which the people of Enfield face.

With strong community, I received 866 votes in the 2022 local elections as an Independent, providing a strong community challenge to the mainstream parties. As residents, we now have a chance of building on this and making a difference as the Enfield Community Independents.
