In Shakira's own words

I have lived in North London for almost a decade, and more recently in Enfield. Edmonton Green is dear to my heart, as I have family members with close ties to the area.

From being here, I sense that residents in Edmonton Green feel they haven't been heard. I feel the frustration that comes across, as basic needs aren't being taken care of.

Fly-tipping is rife, potholes are everywhere, and yet the price of council tax has gone up. Residents aren't seeing where the extra money they are being asked to pay is going; they don't feel the benefits at all!

I would also like to work with organisations such as the North London Waste Authority to move towards a low-waste North London. This includes reducing the amount we waste as a borough and ensuring that the air around Edmonton Green is not polluted by plastic waste being burned in the Edmonton incinerator. Every resident in Edmonton Green deserves and needs clean air, well maintained green spaces and well funded public services in order to live a decent and healthy life, and I want to fight for the residents of Edmonton Green so that they can have the quality of life they deserve. We're all in this together!
