In Sara's own words

Hi everyone, I’m Sara Hamouda, and I’m proud to be standing to represent Rural West ward in this year’s local elections.

I believe residents deserve professional, accountable representation, councillors who show up, listen, and take their responsibilities seriously.

Rural West’s councillors were elected as Conservatives, then switched parties or went independent without consulting residents. Many have also been absent from parish meetings and community life. Our communities deserve better than that.

I bring over 18 years’ experience in education and community support, working closely with families, schools, local organisations, and through my work across the church supporting people and bringing communities together. Those experiences have shown me how much can be achieved when someone is visible, approachable, and prepared to put the work in.

My promise is simple: I will be present, I will listen, and I will be the active, engaged councillor that West Park, Naisberry Park, Elwick, Dalton Piercy, and Wynyard need.

Over the coming months, I’ll be out across the ward speaking with residents. If there’s something you’d like to raise, whether it’s a concern, an issue on your street, or an idea to improve our area, please get in touch. I’m always happy to listen.

My Credentials:

✔ Proud disabled local resident

Lived experience of accessibility barriers, local services, and everyday challenges facing residents.

✔ Over 18 years’ experience in education & community support

Long-term professional background helping people, solving problems, and working with families.

✔ School Governor

Experience of accountability, decision-making, safeguarding, and supporting children and parents.

✔ Active involvement in local church-based community services

Practical community work, visibility, and support for residents.

✔ Member of the Hartlepool Conservation Area Advisory Committee

Direct involvement in local planning, heritage, and neighbourhood decision-making.

✔ Mum of two

Personal understanding of family pressures, schools, services, and community safety.

✔ Track record of community engagement

Working alongside residents, organisations, and local stakeholders.

Local. Disabled. Determined.
