“Jara (“Yara”) is standing as Councillor for Laycock. She is a 1st-generation immigrant of mixed Euro-Asian ethnicity, with strong environmental and left-wing values. She has called England her home for the past 17 years and is a proud Islingtonian. Jara is passionate about our NHS, where she works hard to improve people’s health and wellbeing as Senior Clinical Psychologist for a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.”

During her work as psychologist, she has seen the important role that people’s communities and environments play in their wellbeing, and wants to use her skills and experience to improve yours.”

“After a few years in the charitable sector before qualifying, Jara has worked for the NHS for 8 years across child, adult, learning disability, health, and forensic services. She has experience of leading projects, organising teams, and supervising colleagues in high-pressured environments to improve existing services and develop new ones. Jara is practiced at collaborating with people with different ages, needs, priorities, and backgrounds, and across competing services. She works hard to empower those voices often less heard, including those from ethnic minority, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, and disabled groups.”
