In Simone's own words

**About Simone McNichols-Thomas**

I was born in Hackney, but grew up in Oxford – I made my way back to London over 10 years ago and when I moved to Waltham Forest I quickly grew to love its energy and diversity. With a professional background in communications in the Higher Education sector, I care about amplifying important stories and ensuring people have a say in policy change that affects them.

As a second-generation immigrant and someone who belongs to other marginalised communities, I’m passionate about social justice and believe that local government should work for everyone – not just those who already have influence.

If elected, I will work hard to ensure Forest Ward is a place where residents feel heard – regardless of if they voted for me or not.

**What Simone stands for**

I can see divisive politics and austerity measures eroding the foundations of community. That’s why I’m committed to rebuilding forgotten community spaces and supporting grassroots organising.

I’m fortunate to be a recent homeowner and think it’s a basic right to have a secure and affordable home, irrespective of whether you rent or own. I’m also advocating for consistent management of green spaces and accessible, safe walking routes. These should be a right of passage where we live and raise our families.

In my opinion, London is the best city in the world – but I know it can only thrive if it is fair, green and affordable for all.
