In Robert's own words

I'm from Highfield and I have lived and brought up my children in Winstanley and Goose Green. I'm active within the community as a volunteer and youth football coach. I frequently participate in charity events raising money for local charities including Wigan and Leigh Hospice; riding on charity bike rides from London to Paris and Manchester to Blackpool, jumped out of a plane at 15,000ft (video on YouTube), run races and helped to organise numerous fayres.

In our ward we appear to be first on the list for developments and last for the associated infrastructure. Over the last 10 years we have seen £909,277 paid to the council by developers in Winstanley. This should be used to fund parks, play areas, open spaces and facilities. I'm dedicated to making sure that money is being spent back in our ward and protecting our greenbelt from further developments.

In the first 6 months of 2019 no suspect could be identified for 94% of vehicle crime and 88% of burglaries. As your local councillor I will be committed to addressing crime within our ward. I have already started to liaise with local police to publish local crime statistics and run awareness campaigns to reduce crime and it's impacts.

I am passionate about these issues but I'm also open and approachable and pledge that as a councillor I will remain open and approachable and will do all I can to be a voice on Wigan council for the people of Highfield, Winstanley and Goose Green.
