“I WILL NOT TRY AND PERSUADE YOU TO VOTE FOR ME WITH ELECTORAL CAMPAIGN PROMISES AND STATEMENTS. THIS IS ME! I am a wife, and mother of two serving police officers and a grandmother of two. I have lived in Rochford in the Roche North & Rural ward for over 25 years. When I first moved to Rochford it was a lovely semi-rural town full of history and wonderful neighbours. Sadly, that is not the Rochford that I see today. Over the last 4 years I have worked with the Rochford Supporters Group trying to fight the Bloor development opposite Holt Farm Schools. During these 4 years I have come to realise that our Council is not supportive of its residents and have encountered avoidance of matters of concern, lack of engagement from officers who should be engaged and negligence. There has been little engagement when dealing with serious issues from some not all of the local Councillors. This has made me realise change needs to happen and the only way to help make those changes is to stand as an Independent Candidate in the hope the residents will trust me enough to place their vote in my favour. I will not make promises to Boost this or improve that or Protect Our or Provide for or Reduce or Increase anything. Often these are empty election claims and the end product rarely manifests itself. What I will promise is to tell you the truth at all times. I will do my best to support any efforts that would benefit the community and at the same time ensure that your money is spent in an efficient and productive way. I am not afraid to put my head above the parapet and make my voice heard. If you come to me with a problem, I won’t just report it as is the way of others. I will pursue the issue to its conclusion. You have my word. As an individual I am constantly ignored but as a Councillor I will be able to represent you all in an official capacity which according to the constitution gives me a voice. Standing alone as an Independent I do not have to toe a party line nor do I have to fall in line to the party whip. As an Independent Councillor for the Roche North & Rural Ward I promise you I will not only make my voice heard but yours as well!”
