Green Party candidate for Darwen South
“Denise lives in Darwen and works in Blackburn as an SEO Content Manager. She is a lone parent with one son who attends secondary school in Blackburn. Denise was educated at Loreto Covent Grammar School in Altrincham, specialising in English Language, History, and Theatre Studies. Following this, she gained a Degree in Media and Performance and, subsequently, a Master's Degree in Creative Writing from the University of Salford. She also studied at the University of Bolton, receiving a Diploma in Teaching English Literacy in the Lifelong Learning Sector. In addition to being an SEO Content Manager, Denise is a singer/songwriter and an advocate for the arts in education and the community. She believes creative subjects should be viewed as essential components of education and be funded as such. Another important issue Denise is keen to address is the financial and practical support given to carers who care for their family members, including those who care for children and adults who will require lifelong care. She also wants increased support and funding provided to children and adults with SEN, in educational, community, and domestic settings. Denise is vegan, passionate about the environment, and is an ardent supporter of animal rights and welfare. She is volunteer member of Keep Darwen Tidy and also supports the local cat rescue, English Barn Cats (EBC), by fostering abandoned, injured, and feral cats rescued by EBC. She has further focuses which include, the need for an increase in available social housing, funding for increased and easily accessible adult and children mental health support, and last, but by no means least, women's rights.”
