Councillor Candidate
Lynsey Angell

Lynsey Angell

Green Party candidate for Nether Edge and Sharrow

Green Party

I’m a home carer who has been a tenant of the Lansdowne in Sharrow for around twenty years. For the last year, I have been working closely wih Cllr Maroof Raouf. We work hard for our local community, and I am so happy we have managed to make an impact in the time I have supported Maroof. Alongside this, I have worked independently on projects with the Local Area Committee - improving the play area in Lansdowne -, and as a founding member of Action For Lansdowne, a tenants’ union in the pursuit of better-maintained homes. I also lead two local litterpicking teams, work I really enjoy and value. One usually sticks to Lansdowne itself, and the other typically covers the Highfield/Lowfield area. Between the two teams, we go out 5 times a month to help bring some local pride to our area and to make it safe for people and wildlife. I am also a seasoned campaigner. I organised two protests and brought the community together to raise hundreds of objections to a McDonald’s planning application in Lowfield, ultimately resulting in their application being rejected. Growing up in Sheffield, I’ve been lucky enough to live in our green city my whole life and feel a strong responsibility to preserve our woodlands, rivers and parks for future generations. This includes a wider commitment to our national resources. As such, it is only natural that I very much support the renationalisation of our water supply back into public hands. I joined Sheffield Green Party over a decade ago to protect public services and spaces, ensure everyone has access to decent housing, and to support the creation of green jobs that help to build a strong local economy that works for us all. I am incredibly proud to be standing for election, and I cannot wait to begin the work in Council.
