Maz Hamilton is the Green Party candidate for Stannington Ward in the local elections on May 7th 2026

Maz Hamilton is a small business owner and recovering journalist who lives in Stannington. Their involvement in local politics stems from experiences of homelessness in youth, and from experiencing the life-changing power of well-run and generous social care, education and mental health services.

Maz is now an active fundraiser for social justice causes, including through their publishing business which supports anti-racist charities in the UK, trans rights groups and global democratic causes. They also campaign for carbon negative publishing and for small business initiatives that keep money in local economies. They are a keen walker, reader and crocheter, and have recently dug their first pond.
