Alan served as a Councillor in Leigh ward for many years, and prided himself on looking at the big picture as well as serving his ward. He also served as a county councillor and an East of England regional member. His achievements include working with others to stop the demolition of Old Leigh to build a major road, stop London sending waste to Essex and treat it within London instead, and upgrade the Felixstowe to Nuneaton railway line to take thousands of lorries off the A12. Alan is well-known within Belfairs having served many of its residents as a dentist over many years.
