Independent candidate for Caldecote
Active on State
Party agendas ALWAYS override what you want. Every so-called 'improvement' adds another layer of bureaucracy, wastes money on vanity projects, and distances us further from real democracy. When challenged, party politicians close ranks and hide the truth. I'm Guy Lachlan, a local Independent who answers only to YOU, not a Westminster party. I've lived in Caxton most of my life, run my own business, served on several company Boards, and I'm married to Claire with three grown-up children. Since standing in the General Election in 2024, I've attended nearly every council member and I've seen just how much party politics hurts local democracy. On nearly every issue, Parties vote as a block in order to score political points rather than reflecting the views of their electorate. The councils laugh at us with their insulting 4-day week for 5-days pay, dangerous roads and financial mismanagement - did you know SCDC's own auditors won't even sign off their accounts?! And all the time, taxes rise - for what? As your Independent voice, I'll ALWAYS act for the benefit of local residents, NOT party outsiders. My aims are: - Complete transparency on every issue - To be Accessible and Accountable ONLY to you, no matter who it upsets - Overhaul SCDC procurement to stamp out fraud and waste - Protect our green spaces from overdevelopment - YES to a Unitary council, but not until every council has had its accounts properly audited - End the insulting 4-days' work for five days pay experiment at the council - Preserve single-sex spaces in all schools and council facilities See my Facebook page for more details of what I've been doing as a member of the public, https://www.facebook.com/share/1Go3UBVvfT/
