Conservative candidate for Town
I have lived and worked in the Berkshire/ North West Surrey area since the 1980’s and moved to Camberley in 2010. My family connections in Camberley go back to the 1900s with Maryanne Hogg the Camberley Cadaver. My working life started in Social Services specialising in areas of multiple deprivation and mental health issues before moving to working for commercial companies. During my working life I negotiated major contracts with and for many government organisations around the world and helped organisations deliver on Corporate Social Responsibility. Now that I am “retired”, I work full time on doing everything I can to make lives better locally. That is why I’ve taken on the work involved in being: • Chairman of the Old Dean Community Group charity • Community Representative for the NHS Frimley Clinical Commissioning Group. • Chairman of the Surrey Tree Warden Network and Surrey Heath Tree Wardens charities. We all need additional support to encourage us to pursue healthy lifestyles. • Much of my work with the NHS is about identifying health needs and ensuring residents are aware of and able to access healthcare services. • When the pandemic hit I was responsible for setting up and running the Free Food Stalls to help those who are struggling with the economic impact of the pandemic. • I have also gained a name for lobbying for road improvements and making sure that potholes in Camberley East get dealt with promptly. I try not to have “spare time” but in quieter moments I campaign for better protection for Nature and try to improve my wildlife photography. My priorities are: • Ensuring we receive investment into our local economy and support for local businesses – that is essential for our quick recovery from the economic effects of the pandemic • Supporting the most vulnerable through focused efforts such as the Free Food Stalls • Driving for easier access to joined-up Health and Care that makes it easier for us to live longer better lives • Stopping harmful developments that threaten our Environment while promoting appropriate ones. We need much more focus on providing housing for young families. We all need to play our part in improving our Environment. • Working for infrastructure improvements that benefit us especially better roads, health facilities and schools. I am also looking for changes to improve air quality especially around schools and to make it safer for cyclists. • Making sure we get Value for Money for our Council Tax which is an area where I have the specific deep experience needed to make a real difference
