Councillor Candidate
Jenny Wilkinson

Jenny Wilkinson

Liberal Democrats candidate for Sutton Vesey

Active on State

Liberal Democrats

Jenny is a committed campaigner and activist, determined to make a difference in our community. She says, "Sadly, Labour have failed Birmingham. After 14 years in power, they have wasted hundreds of millions of residents’ money and bankrupted the council. We are seeing significant increases in council tax, whilst services have dramatically reduced. Streets and parks are full of litter, and roads are full of potholes. Birmingham is at a crossroads. It is clear Labour is finished, but we must not trade their failures for those of the far right or left. The Lib Dems are the positive change our city needs." Outside of politics, Jenny is mum to three teenage boys and has long been actively involved in the community. She is a founding trustee and treasurer of local charity FOLIO Sutton Coldfield, and was formerly chair of the Sutton Sea Scouts group, a school governor and a member of the committee of FOSPA. Professionally, Jenny is an accountant and business consultant. She has worked with a wide range of private and public sector entities over her 30-year career, and a significant part of her work has been focused on tackling fraud and corruption. She is currently an Ethics and Independence Director. Honesty, integrity and fairness are core values for Jenny. Jenny is passionate about education, campaigning for increases in school funding. She is concerned about environmental issues, pushing for greater protection of our natural resources and urgent action to tackle the climate emergency. She believes in the importance of encouraging local residents, particularly young people, to be engaged in and involved in their communities. Jenny says, "For me, being involved in politics is all about helping people make the changes that are needed to improve their lives. I'm fighting for the Liberal Democrat values of freedom, fairness and equality, working with individuals, community groups and businesses to build a brighter future for us all."
