In John's own words

John has lived in the North-East for forty years, and works at Newcastle University – a popular teacher of Maths for Engineers.

He has experience of: - Former Newcastle councillor - Candidate for Police & Crime Commissioner 2024 - Managing a large department of 1,000 staff and students and a budget of £14M - Chairing a local charity and being trustee of other charities - President of a local union branch - Regional and national church committees

His priorities are: - Honest and pragmatic politics - The Environment – leadership helping us to move to a Sustainable world - Safer walking and cycling for health and environment – keen user of a car-club (pay-as-you-go) - Cleaner rivers and beaches – end the scandal of sewage - Fairness – cost-of-living, crime, air-quality all impact hardest on deprived communities - Carers and social care – support those in need and take pressure off the NHS
