Sophie Joanna McGlinn

I am passionate about social and economic inclusion, which is what drew me to the Green Party. I've lived in North Tyneside for 13 years and this community has been so welcoming to me as a single parent. I work for Newcastle City Council, developing coordinated responses to homelessness and financial exclusion. I've seen the impact of the welfare reforms which have already taken millions out of the pockets of North Tyneside residents, and the cost of living crisis that will affect us all. Now is an excellent time to make changes locally to move to net zero and focus on sustainable development that benefits all residents. I live in Cullercoats with my young daughter, we love the parks, cafes and beaches. In my (limited!) free time I enjoy running, yoga, books and drinking strong coffee!
