In Anthony's own words

Anthony Fairclough moved to Wimbledon in 2002, and now lives on Merton Hall Road with his wife and son. For the last 12 years, he’s worked as head of research and legal support at a leading barristers chambers. In his spare time, he’s been a law centre volunteer and a trade union rep advising on training and development, helping people to sort out various problems. In 2009, he founded the Wimbledon Station Book Swap (now in the waiting room on Platform 7/8) and organised the “community book sale” at the first ever Wimbledon BookFest in 2006. Anthony’s two year old enjoys the playground on Dundonald Rec!

The local Lib Dem team launched six key pledges if voters back them at May’s local elections.

These are: (1) real action to save Wimbledon Police Station; (2) investing in our health and care services; (3) investing in education; (4) making local stations "step free"; (5) more affordable homes; and (6) keeping streets clean through better contract management, flexibility on wheelie bins, and action on flytipping.”

The Lib Dems have a strong record of supporting residents in the area, and are in pole position to beat the Conservatives here at the upcoming local elections on 3 May.

In a joint statement on being nominated as candidates, Anthony, Simon and John said:

“As a team we’ve shown we can work hard and bring a professional approach to dealing with local issues. Elect three Lib Dems on 3rd May and we’ll be a local team you can trust to get things done.

“We will fight for a fresh start for our area – we believe politics can be done in a more professional, collaborative and positive way.”
