Dan Flower

Labour councillor for Southwick Green

Term started: 7 May 2026

Labour

Dan believes strongly in community and the positive impact that people can have on their local area when they work together. He feels that the Conservative controlled council has let down the residents of Southlands through neglect of council homes, historic lack of investment in Parklands, for example, and the upkeep of Shoreham in general. As a father of two young children, he knows the benefits that stimulating and well looked after surroundings can have on people’s mental and physical health, as well as their sense of community. He has seen first-hand the impact of poorly maintained council housing on the tenants who live there and the unnecessary distress caused by persistent under-funding. Dan has worked as a teacher for 13 years both in Sussex and in east London. He says: “I believe strongly in the value of public service. I believe the needs of the most vulnerable of our young people must be met and they must be provided with the tools they need to succeed in life. That means well resourced services. With many people now feeling the impact of price rises and tighter household budgets, I will make sure that the council works hard to provide residents with the services they need.”
