Ian James Parker

Conservative councillor for Coulsdon Town

Term started: 7 May 2026

Conservative

Ian Parker is a member of the Planning Committee regularly opposing Croydon Labour's inappropriate developments. Ian has lived and worked in the Coulsdon/Purley area for over 30 years He is married with two children both educated at local state schools and is the former Chair of Governors at Woodcote High School He was previously a Coulsdon Councillor (2010-2014) and Deputy Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration He is a former member of Coulsdon Forum and he has been a local volunteer for the Royal British Legion for over 20 years. Having served as a Coulsdon West and then Coulsdon Town Councillor for seven years (2010-2014 and 2018-present) he has a clear picture of the role of a local Councillor. Key is the ability to listen and respond without promising that every wish can be met. As an ambassador for Coulsdon he seeks to promote the area to ensure the town centre remains a vibrant place to shop and work. The ever-growing developments provide challenges for local public services. Elected representatives need to ensure the services expand in line with the growing population. Any developments should preserve the green belt that should be cherished for ours and future generations. As a Conservative Councillor, he seeks to ensure we get value for money from our local taxes. To do that, we need a Conservative administration in the Town Hall. Coulsdon has for too long been neglected by a Labour Croydon Council.
