I am standing for re-election as your County Councillor as I am passionate about our community and the area where we live. However, we face serious challenges and I have campaigned on several key issues: i) remove sewage from our rivers; ii) improve our roads and reduce the amount of potholes and iii) work on a Countywide plan to limit HGVs using our villages and market towns as cut-throughs. I have given over £10,000 to WASP (Windrush Against Sewage Pollution) to ensure that we can effectively monitor and measure the extent of pollution entering our rivers. This equipment is vital in order to hold Thames Water to account for their dumping of raw sewage into our rivers. I am also heavily involved in the County Council HGV study to limit the large HGVs using our villages and market towns as a cut through. This work and data gathering should be completed in 2025-2026. We need to support our local farmers and ensure that the current Inheritance Tax proposal is scrapped. My inbox is also full of complaints from concerned pensioners who face cuts in their winter fuel payments and face real hardship in the winter months often having to face a choice between heating and eating. This is an unfair policy levied against the most vulnerable in our society. With your support on Thursday 1st May, I will continue to campaign to ensure that West Oxfordshire is a place where we can all be proud to live, work and grow up in for many years to come.
